As you know I have two brothers, Roscoe who sometimes hijacks my blog to promote himself since he wants to be a movie star, and Sprocket, who is kind of old and is technically challenged since he is pretty blind, so he can’t blog.
Sprocket has been going to a place to get something called acupuncture for his arthritis, he has a “hitch in his git along” as some people like to say. Mom says he is going lame. He has very bad arthritis and can’t take any medicine because it makes him sick, except something called tramadol. He is also starting to take some new medicine called atiquin shots once a week. Mom is wondering about these shots and if anyone knows about them?
I can tell mom is very worried about him, she gets mad at me if I try and play with him! Geee, I just want to cheer him up!!! I love my two older brothers, even though they don’t look like me! I wonder why we don’t look alike even though we are brothers?
What a sweet post Daisy! Sprocket is so cute. Poor baby is getting old like my Mandy.
I think they’re brothers cuz they have the same mom. Um….that is, caretaker mom? Um…..ya know? Cuz your all family! That’s all it takes, right, sis?
Bet Sprocket still thinks he’s the Alpha dog!
Hi Daisy! I am sorry to hear that your brother is not feeling well! My big boy Bruno has arthritis and we have had great success with weekly Adequan shots. They make him feel like a puppy every time he gets them.
It can take as long four weeks to see results, so stick tell your Mom to stick with them and give them a chance, even if it seems like they aren’t working.
It doesn’t matter if you look alike, what matters is what is in your heart!
Sprocket is such a cutie, I wish I knew something about the shots, so I could help. He must be very brave to go get acupuncture! It’s called acuPUNCTURE for a reason.

They are brothers of the heart. Just give him soft nose kisses. I hope the acupunture will help him feel better.

Our vet recommended something called “dog gone pain” and said some dogs have had good luck with it. http://www.doggonepain.com/ Also, Glycoflex and Synovi are a couple of natural supplements that are supposed to help arthritic dogs. Trouble the Kitty seems more spry after taking her sea cucumber treats (which have natural chondroitin in them) for a while.
Tucker has had something called “aquapuncture”. My wife says she’s not sure if it really helped him or not; the animal chiropractor seems to help him the most. But he doesn’t have arthritis, just weird twitchy muscle spasms that pull his spine out of alignment. I don’t think chiropractic would be good for a dog with arthritis.
Sprocket looks like a sweetie. Is he named after the dog from Fraggle Rock?
Poor Sprocket! We hope your Mom can get some info on those new meds and that they work! You are brothers and sisters of the best sort: of the heart!
Brown dog kisses,
Dannan and The Girl
Am I able to use paypal to pay for this?
